Like most labourers in this area, they have been "brought in" , in this case from neighbouring Guizhou Province....working for less than Y300 per month....starting each day in the Winter dark at 5am......two hour break for lunch and siesta....stopping in dark at 6pm. Three weeks ago a baby was born on the mountain...parents couldn't afford doctor/hospital...(wife and baby didn't attend last night's meal..)
