2007-10-16  First visit to Shiyan ("sat yihm")
 Government Primary School at Deqing (2 hours from Zhaoqing)
 - an excellent  primary 6 class of 56 students.
School has 2,300 students (6 or 7  classes for each level of P1,2,3,4,5,6).
 School fees are Y200+ ...no extra charge for students from outside the area
...in fact some 336 children from nearby villages attend the school totally free,
in line with government policy of more help for poorer people.
 School has 7 local (Chinese) English teachers
who are based in the same office to help each other practise English
....and who are most grateful for any foreign visitors who can help their students.
